2018 Winter Equestrian Festival - January 10 - April 1, 2018 - 113
Q A What's one thing you do to keep your horses happy during a busy circuit? I make sure all the horses go out for at least an hour a day in turnout, if possible. I think it's great for their minds to get out, walk around, and be horses for a little while. Q A Q A What's one thing you never leave the barn without? My backpack. What's in your backpack? I have spare boots, spare bits and any bit attachments, a hole punch, and anything that could possibly break that can fit in a backpack. It's my emergency pack, and it weighs a lot; 20 pounds or so. Q Do you have any superstitions? A Q A No superstitions, per se, but I never cut a mane or tail right before showing! You've had an illustrious career. What's one moment that stands out to you the most? For sure the first time we made the Olympic team. That was a big deal, and then to actually go to the Olympics was huge. Q A Who's been your favorite horse to work with? Everyone always asks this, but there's been so many of them, and they're all so different. I think they're all quirky; all the good ones are. It's very hard to pick one. They're like people, they're very special, and you develop a bond with every one of them. Q A What's one thing you would tell young professionals in the industry? If you want to groom, you really have to do it for the love of the horses. 2018 WINTER EQUESTRIAN FESTIVAL 113
