CHAMBER FOCUS 2007 USHCC CONVENTION “BUILDING COMMERCE AMONG THE AMERICAS” The USHCC 2007 Annual Convention, Business Expo & International Pavilion focused on building business relationships and creating opportunities for participants from all industries and from every corner of the U.S. and around the world. Over the course of four days, this largest gathering of Hispanic business owners offered a variety of workshops, chamber training and business sessions. American Airlines, the USHCC and Hispanic Enterprise were pleased to announce that the winner of a free trip to the USHCC convention in San Juan, Puerto Rico was Griselda Barajas, the incoming chair of the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Several awards were presented, including the ﬁrst 2007 Ultimate Latina Leader Award,which went to Nina Vaca, president and CEO of Pinnacle Technical Resources. The Hispanic Businesswoman and Businessman of the Year awards went to: • Aracelica Paredes, CEO, Super Mercado Del Pueblo (Las Vegas, Nevada) • Jacqueline J. Baca, President, Bueno Foods (Albuquerque, New Mexico) • Dr. Carmen Santiago, CEO and President, Cuidado Casero Home Health & Hospice (Arlington, Texas) • Rosa Santana, CEO, Integrated Human Capital (El Paso, Texas) • Nannette Rodriguez, President, VIVAMEDIA, Inc. (Des Moines, Iowa) • Frederick R. Ruiz, Chair, Co-Founder and CEO, Ruiz Foods, Inc, (Dinuba, California) • Ruben Ruiz, CEO, Financial Advisor and Author, The Ruiz Financial Group, LLC (San Marcos, Texas) • J.M. “Mike” Robinson, President and CEO, LaVERDAD Marketing & Media (Cincinnati, Ohio) • Alex Castro, President and COO, C&S Hardware (New York, New York) • David Hernandez, CEO, Liberty Power (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) Prior to the convention, the Board of Directors of the USHCC re-elected David C. Lizárraga, CEO of TELACU Millenium, to serve as the USHCC Board Chair for a third term. Elizabeth Vasquez Gallagher, President and CEO of SAVI Construction, Gallagher Group, Inc and Gallagher Group International, was elected to serve as the USHCC Vice-Chair. Six new members were appointed to serve on the board of directors: Savi Construction’s Elizabeth Gallagher will represent region 1; The Fernandez Group’s Sally Fernandez for region 2; Pinnacle Technical Resources’ Nina Vaca for region 3; Cano Container Corp’s Juventino Cano for region 4; Alex Garcia from El Taller Colaborativo for region 5; and David Hernandez of Liberty Power for region 6.
