Hispanic Enterprise - December 2007/January 2008 - (Page 60) MOVERS & SHAKERS PALLADIUM ANNOUNCES NEW INVESTMENT AND NEW CEO New York based private equity firm Palladium Equity Partners, LLC, announced its investment in DailyMe, Inc., a media company that provides personalized news and information on-demand, delivered across multiple media platforms. DailyMe builds a personalized news digest for each reader based on his or her own personal preferences, using choices of news categories, keywords, individual news sources, and pre-configured profiles developed by both the editorial team and DailyMe users. Palladium also announced recently the naming of Ricardo Alvarez as president and CEO of Castro Cheese Company Inc., a leading manufacturer, marketer and distributor of Hispanic cheeses and creams. Castro Cheese, acquired by Palladium Equity Partners last year, is based in Houston and markets its products under the La Vaquita brand. Robert J. Armband, CEO and publisher of ImpreMedia’s La Raza newspaper in Chicago, has stepped down. Mike Cano, marketing director of ImpreMedia’s La Opinión newspaper in Los Angeles, will succeed Armband on an interim basis. Prior to joining La Opinión, Cano was president and CEO of LANG’s Impacto USA out of Long Beach. Before that, he was recruited by the Belo Company to launch and develop Al Dia in Dallas, Texas. ImpreMedia is the nation’s largest Hispanic newspaper publisher with publications reaching 23 cities. LA RAZA NEWSPAPER PUBLISHER AND CEO STEPS DOWN PATRICIA ROMERO NAMED NATIONAL MANAGER OF MULTICULTURAL MARKETING FOR HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA Patricia Romero has been named national manager of multicultural marketing for Hyundai Motor America Company. Romero will be responsible for all Hyundai ethnic marketing and advertising in the United States. She will report directly to Chris Perry, senior national manager of marketing communications. Romero, a specialist in brand building, comes to Hyundai from Bumpercar, Inc., a Hispanic advertising agency where she developed and directed strategic marketing plans for top brands. Prior to this, she was California marketing manager for Daimler Chrysler, where she achieved market share increase in the state during her first year mainly by expanding marketing efforts to reach ethnic consumers. OSCAR MARTINEZ NAMED QWEST VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE AND TREASURY Oscar Martinez has been promoted to vice president of finance and treasury of Qwest, a national provider of managed voice and data solutions for businesses, government agencies and consumers. Martinez will report directly to the Qwest senior vice president and treasurer. In his new role, Martinez will manage strategic relationships with both financial institutions and credit rating agencies, and will also play a key role in initiatives to further enhance the company’s financial flexibility.
