Breckenridge. photo: Carl Scofield, Vail Resorts The 2010/11 Breckenridge Ski Resort ski season had record snowfall. New, luxury-lodging and amenities debuted, but the 2011/12 ski season promises to reach new heights. The resort prepares to celebrate its 50th birthday. Breckenridge opened for the first time ever on December 16, 1961. The resort will be celebrating all season long during the 2011/2012 winter season with special events, great deals and attractions that are perfect for the entire family. Although formal skiing has only been around for fifty years, Breckenridge has a much longer history dating back to the gold mining days of the late 1850s.
