Vice President - Membership, FWSA
The Snowsports Leadership Academy, held on Saturday during the 85th Annual Convention in Boise, Idaho had a new and exciting twist! Sessions were held all day, and it was hard
to find a seat! Experts in their field were present to speak on specific topics related to the
snowsports industry. Topics can be taken back to be used by organizations or kept for personal
use. This year, all the topics were professionally videotaped to be stored for future viewing.

Six members from Idaho Falls Ski Club did a detailed presentation on "How to Build
and Maintain a Successful Ski Club". The team of Bev Novak, Don Rasch, Brian Edgerton,
Delisa Rogers, Peggy Hinman, and Alex Chapman organized an informative group of topics.
Idaho Falls members discussed their club's history, how they raise funds, website development,
recruitment, and their challenges. The room was filled with club members asking questions!
Todd Hood, who graciously returned from last year's academy, once again presented another exciting topic on "Making Love to your Members. Building and Bridging Relationships for the Long Term". Todd is currently VP of Membership of Los Angeles Council and
Treasurer of the National Brotherhood of Skiers Western Region. He discussed techniques to
increase an organization's value to members. The more valuable you are, the more your members love, protect, and promote you. There was much to present, but so little time, and the
guests wanted more.
The afternoon sessions were provided by Dave Hall, Kyle Woolstenhulme and Chuck Cremer. Dave and Kyle presented "How to Keep your Skis in Tip Top Shape" with a hands-on
demonstration on how to tune and store your skis. Chuck presented "What Goes into a Great
Boot Fitting" and his expertise on the topic made me want to go to his store immediately!
People were in the hallway asking questions after the session.
It was a pleasure to meet and work with these talented experts in their field. Don't forget
to watch the YouTube video if you were not present, missed a topic, or want the information
for your organization. ss
