The Far West Ski Association is headed
back to Reno, Nevada for the 86th Annual Far
West Ski Association Convention, June 7 - 10,
2018. Co-hosted by the Bay Area Snow Sports
Council and the Sierra League & Council at the
beautiful Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, this will
be one not to be missed.
Reno is the largest city in Northern Nevada, nestled on the eastern slope of the Sierra
Nevada Mountains in an area called the Truckee Meadows. Biking, camping, hunting, fishing and mountain climbing are all activities
Reno residents and visitors enjoy.
In addition to all the outdoor activities
available, Reno features many places to visit,
including the West Street Market, National Automobile Museum, Nevada Museum of Art, Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, the
Reno Philharmonic and additional historic
venues. We will be working with the RenoSparks Convention & Visitor's Authority to
plan some exciting events, so be sure to extend
your stay to take advantage of all that Reno
and Nevada have to offer.
Located just minutes from the RenoTahoe International Airport, the Atlantis pro5O
vides guests with free shuttle service right to
their door. It is Reno's premier AAA Four
Diamond resort, and features distinctive
décor, contemporary furnishings and seamless in-room technology. The beautifully designed rooms, award-winning restaurants,
Forbes Four-Star luxury spa and casino entertainment are second to none.
Spa Atlantis is a space and place for personal comfort and relaxation, a get-away
from the everyday world. Surrounded by
calm soothing colors, natural stone and the
gentle flow of water, you are free to surrender to its healing wonders. The Spa offers a
variety of treatments from around the world,
as well as year-round indoor whirlpools, an
atrium pool, and an exceptionally-equipped
Cardio-Fitness Center. For additional information about the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa,
go to www.atlantiscasino.com.
All of the Optional Events planned by
our Host Councils are outstanding, and fit
our group to a "T". Thursday is set aside for
a day of Kayaking the Truckee River. A bus
will pick you up at the Atlantis Casino Resort
Spa, and take you up river, where you will
hop in your kayak, and begin your trek into
downtown Reno. Once you return to your
room, take a bit of time to fluff and buff, and
prepare for an awesome Pub Crawl throughout the downtown area.
Friday's activities include the 12th Annual Michael German Memorial Golf Tournament, at the beautiful Lakeridge Golf Course,
just two short miles from the hotel. The
course offers breath-taking views of Reno and
the surrounding mountains. A light breakfast
and shotgun start will send you off for your
round of 18 holes. Be prepared for a surprise
along the way and swing your way back to the
clubhouse for a wonderfully prepared lunch
and tournament awards. A very do-able hike
at Lake Tahoe with its magnificent views, is
followed by lunch at a local café. If you are
looking for a day of relaxation, a special Spa
Day is planned at the luxurious Spa Atlantis.
Then, it's back to the hotel for the Pool Party
with fun activities, hosted by the Central
Council of California.
Friday evening is when things really start
happening. Beginning at 5:30 pm, enjoy hors
d'oeuvres and mingling at the Club Happy
