Making use of instruction, technology and simulations, you will not only learn the law and the legal system, but also develop the practical skills you must have to practice. Our clinics provide you with opportunities to pursue your own interests and gain experience working with real clients who are dealing with current conflicts and issues. At the end of the program, you will have acquired an appreciation for the relationship of law to the client, the court and the community, and have the skills necessary to be effective immediately. Coastal Law’s faculty members boast numerous academic publications and awards, and have made national and international achievements in law and legal education. They create a rigorous and stimulating academic environment, but as former judges, trial attorneys, government officials, and corporate leaders, they provide real world experience with issues concerning the law every day. In addition to their traditional tasks of teaching and scholarship, each faculty member has mentoring responsibilities that include encouraging and supporting your individual professional interests. 16
