Coastal Law Viewbook - (Page 20) CENTER FOR LAW & SP O RT S Among the many advantages that set Coastal Law apart from our comparator schools is our curriculum, which allows students to align career choices with specialized areas of expertise. A certificate program is a formal course of study within curriculum that is comparable to a college major. Successful completion of a certificate program not only represents significant learning, but can also exhibit to potential employers a student’s dedication to the corresponding practice area. Coastal Law offers five certificate programs. The Center For law and sports offers students a comprehensive sports law curriculum in which to obtain a certificate in sports law and concentrate their legal studies on the rapidly changing and dynamic sports industry. A variety of unique and specialized course offerings are taught by dedicated full-time sports law faculty members, as well as adjunct faculty employed in the sports industry. Students enrolled in the certificate program may also have the unique opportunity to participate in an internship with one of many professional and collegiate sports organizations in the Northeast Florida area and across the nation. Some of the places that our students have interned include: • PGA Tour • ATP Tour • NFL Jacksonville Jaguars • United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) • Clemson University • Jacksonville University • University of North Florida “My calling is to advocate for women in sports and I strive to instill in my students a sense of purpose in their professional and personal lives. It is a privilege to mentor and partner with the next generation of lawyers, whether in class or in Coastal Law’s Legal Advocacy Center for Women in Sports.” 20 – Nancy Hogshead-Makar Assistant Professor of Law Triple Gold Medalist - 1984 Olympics
