The Official 2008 RVers Guide to Florida - (Page 12) Meet the MASCOT Here’s Roadie! I’m the official mascot of the Florida RV Trade Association (FRVTA). I was selected to be the FRVTA mascot because of my knowledge of the state of Florida and my many years of RV experience. When I was a baby pelican, my father explored every corner of Florida in his RV. My favorite vacations were the ones we took in our RV. From the white sandy beaches of the Panhandle to the breathtaking sunsets of Florida’s west coast, our RV vacations allowed us to discover Florida without having to sleep on channel markers and piers — as so many of my relatives do! Today I travel all over Florida to talk about the fun you can enjoy in an RV. You can find me at any of the FRVTA RV shows and the Florida RV SuperShow in Tampa. My FREE coloring/fun book can be picked up at any of these shows, too. You can color pictures of some of my favorite vacations and play some fun games with me. Don’t forget to say “Hi” when you see me, and if you ever need any advice on fishing in Florida, I’m your man er, bird! See you down the road! New program to bridge gap toward RV careers THE FLORIDA RV TRADE ASSOCIATION is sponsoring a new pilot program for employee recruitment. This initiative will implement a statewide recruitment program designed to identify, screen, assess, and hire the most qualified applicants seeking employment and pursuing a career within the RV industry. With the Florida unemployment rate lower than that of the national average, employers in all industries are facing the same challenge to identify and hire the most qualified job applicants. The FRVTA careers pilot will provide an additional tool to assist participating members in the employee recruitment process. This unique pilot program will include an internet job board to serve FRVTA members choosing to post their job openings providing state and national exposure, and the implementation of an easy to use internet/telephone based automated interview system developed by HRMC. This program will also work towards employee recruitment in other capacities including: focusing on the recruitment of veterans (The RV Industry Hires Heroes), participating in statewide job fairs, and sponsoring recruitment activities during RV shows. These components combined will bring maximum exposure to people seeking employment and career opportunities within the RV industry.
