When not at the Ulrich, The Suburban is housed in an 8’ x 8’ building off the side of Grabner’s garage, which means that she and her family eat, sleep and dream in the art world. Domesticity and light are reoccurring themes in this exhibition, which consists of paintings, photography, weavings, collaborative video and (perhaps the most intriguing part) a full-scale replica of The Suburban, Grabner’s project space in Oak Park, Ill. Seriously, this is as contemporary as contemporary art can get.
