February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, so it’s a great time to find fun, new ways to interest your children in taking better care of their teeth. Thanks to the many kid-specific products on the market today, that task is not as difficult as you might think. Many major brands now carry product lines that will make brushing their teeth Here are soMe IteMs and tIps to Make tHIs daIly cHore a welcoMe treat: 1 2 While most adults appreciate the minty freshness regular toothpastes offer, younger taste buds may find them too harsh. Look for a brand 3 4 5 Some children just don’t like to brush alone. Why not brush your teeth with your little one? Turn it into a family activity and it may just with a flavor they will enjoy, such as bubble gum or fruit. You may have to purchase several different kinds before you find a winner, so be prepared to toss the ones that don’t work. Forcing a child to finish a product, so that it doesn’t go to waste, defeats the purpose. A favorite toothbrush can make all the difference. From Sponge Bob to Sesame Street, it’s not difficult to find a toothbrush with your surprise you when they start looking forward to that time together. Offer an incentive. Create a one-month card that you can punch, or add a sticker to, every time your children brush their teeth. When the card is full, they can trade it in for a specific reward; you’ll fix their favorite meal, take them to the park or let them control the remote for one evening. You may also want to check out some websites and children’s books associated with dental health.
