Land Development Today - July/August 2007 - (Page U3) July/August 2007 Greg Yoko Managing Editor From the Editor: It is obvious that there is quite a bit of urban redevelopment taking place throughout the United States. After we introduced this supplement, Sustainable Urban Redevelopment, in March, we have been inundated with article ideas. Therefore, we will be expanding this supplement to a stand-alone publication in 2008. Sustainable Urban Redevelopment will be a quarterly magazine and available upon request – at no charge – for those individuals that complete a subscription card. A card is located within this supplement and will be available online later this year as well. In this issue we chose to recognize the efforts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Little Rock, Arkansas. Plus, we feature an article illustrating the focus that many U.S. cities are placing on sustainability. As always, if you have any comments, do not hesitate in letting us know by contacting us by phone or email (see below). TABLE OF CONTENTS 4 Rebirth of a Colonial Green Space Originally designed 325 years ago by William Penn, Franklin Square has been redeveloped back into a vibrant part of the community as an activity center and source of pride. Sustainability Increasingly on U.S. Cities' Radar While many communities are anxious to jump on the "sustainability" bandwagon, becoming a sustainable community requires more than simply putting a plan on a paper and passing a resolution. Rockin' Back to Life in Arkansas The sister communities of Little Rock and North Little Rock in central Arkansas are each experiencing physical and economic growth as a result of a dedicated effort by local visionaries.
