This magazine and the Land Development Breakthroughs (LDB) Best Practice Conferences have become a benchmark that, to me, have transformed these new ideas from weird, strange, and different, into unique, amazing, and beautiful. As a group of people, we developers are diverse and represent all walks of life; but we are very much the same in that we share an appreciation for the original and unusual. For the past few years, Futurus’ magazine and events have educated our industry in revolutionary ideas that are essential for the continuity of our work. Providing us with new tools to actively respond to the rapid changes that surrounds us. Concepts that may be considered difficult to obtain, like combining the natural landscape with the mechanically aspects of our developments, are explained. Managing stormwater in a unique manner were the land topography can be naturally used (i.e. rain gardens) instead of using of manholes and piping is so simple that, for most of us, is sometimes still so difficult to comprehend. But if I tell you that will reduce cost, enhance values, increase profits, and will be save haven for our mother earth what will you think then? Developers and related professionals are the ones to implement the latest innovations and need to be leadingedge thinkers of important land issues like global warming, high cost of construction, and land acquisition to provide the world’s families with affordable sustainable homes for generations to come. If you still haven't jump in the boat I recommend you to attend one of Futurus Communications Best Practice Conferences. You will have a blast and will learn of new ideas – like those illustrated by Rick Harrison – that will blow your mind. I attended the conference in New Orleans and I consider myself proud to be part of the land development community that is truly concerned and educated on balancing the needs of people, planet, and profit.
