Sustainable Land Development Today - November/December 2007 - (Page 6) OUR VOICE 275 East 10th, Suite 200 Dubuque, IA 52001 Phone: 888-388-8787 • Fax: 360-343-2341 www.SLDTonline.com PUBLISHER Tony Wernke Publisher@SLDTonline.com EDITOR-IN-CHIEF Greg Yoko Editor@SLDTonline.com EDITOR- Rob Kundert RKundert@SLDTonline.com Positive Changes Most people do not like change. Truth be told, I am not too fond of it either. However, when changes are implemented in a manner that incorporates preparation and planning, many of the anxieties associated with changes can be overcome or mitigated. Many articles that we present in Sustainable Land Development Today introduce ideas, trends, products, procedures, and processes that, if accepted as a viable alternative to what is currently done, often will require significant changes. In fact, even the concept of becoming a sustainable business or creating a sustainable development requires a change in approach and habits. In this issue you will read articles that may inspire you to change. Perhaps you have noticed that we have undergone some changes as well. Many of these should be somewhat transparent, and others will become clearer in 2008. Those of you that frequent our websites have obviously seen our online changes. This magazine can now be found online and digitally at SLDTonline.com. Our conference and workshop site (LDBreakthroughs.com) has been upgraded as well. Perhaps more importantly, I am proud to announce the addition of Rob Kundert. Rob’s experience as a long-time business and news reporter, and background in landscape construction, make him a perfect match for SLDT. In fact, you may recognize Rob’s name, as he has authored numerous articles for us over the past two years. Rob joins the team as Senior Editor of both SLDT and Sustainable Urban Redevelopment. Looking Ahead The changes we have made are in preparation for a rather large corporate change that is taking place on January 1, 2008. In concert with other key industry figures, we are initiating a new organization, Sustainable Land Development International (SLDI). Wholly consistent with what has been espoused on these magazine pages for years, this unique member organization will be primarily tasked to provide information, resources, and technologies that will guide the land development industry through the challenges of sustainable development – in a manner that balances the needs of people, planet, and profit.
