Georgia Tech Alumni - 2006/2007 Annual Report - (Page 12) CHASING GOLD Attendance at — and in many cases participation in — Alumni events experienced a gold medal-worthy high jump, from 73,591 in the 2005-06 fiscal year to 89,076 in 2006-07. The 35th annual Dean George C. Griffin Pi Mile Road Race was just one of the popular draws. Alumni and friends were on the go to destinations around the world. During the fiscal year, more than 500 alumni and friends traveled with Alumni tours on one of more than 25 travel adventures. Tour destinations included Antarctica, Italy, France, Scotland, Greece, Spain, Germany, England, China, Alaska and Ireland. Across the United States, members of Georgia Tech Alumni Clubs gathered to watch Tech games, send off new Institute students and award scholarships. Leadership Georgia Tech brought club officers from around the country to Atlanta for recognition and advice on ways for their Alumni groups to strike gold. Web Services made registration for all programming easy through online forms. Purchasing also lent a hand with department-produced brochures. The Pi Mile drew a record 833 registered runners and walkers to the Georgia Tech campus on a lovely April morning. That number does not include the dozens of youngsters in strollers and dogs on leashes that tagged along for the race. 12 2006-07 ANNUAL REPORT | GEORGIA TECH ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
