MILESTONE MOMENTS The Alumni Association and the Institute have a solid relationship, one enhanced by 60 years of Roll Call support. Behind the scenes is an equally solid support system within the Association working to overcome fiscal challenges. Database Management maintains nearly 80,000 e-mail addresses and more than 150,000 biographical records. Communications produces two quarterly publications, the Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine and Tech Topics, as well as interactive digital versions of each, and the monthly e-newsletter BUZZwords. Information Technology formats and transmits about 1.5 million e-mails a year. Departments collaborate to stage Gettin’ Out parties and Women on Wednesdays networking events. The Association toasts the achievements of individual departments, including Living History, which received an Award of Excellence from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education for the film “From the Ordinary to the Extraordinary: Georgia Tech Inventions and Innovations.” The Alumni Association continues to innovate to offer extraordinary support for the Institute. The Association communicates the achievements of the Institute and its alumni, maintains its traditions and engages the campus community by forming a complete picture from four separate business disciplines: Gathering and Managing Information: Optimizing technology to provide efficient, cost-effective operations and accurate data management. Communication: Keeping alumni and other members of the Tech community informed about activities of the Alumni Association and at Georgia Tech. Engagement: Involving alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff and friends in a range of professional, educational and social activities designed to promote personal and professional growth as well as a sense of community.
