But that rule doesn’t apply to company president and CEO Ed Bolian, PubPol 08, who is only 22. “The idea came out of a love for cars and a desire to share that love with people who were otherwise unlikely ever to experience the thrill of driving an exotic Italian sports car,” Bolian says. “I noticed the successes and failures of similar firms in Miami, Los Angeles and Las Vegas and felt that Atlanta was a prime market for this type of service with no real competition for my product. “I spent about four years refining the business plan, doing Jenny McDonagh Navy Triathlete J enny McDonagh, AE 05, qualified in May for Team USA, made up of the top triathletes from throughout the armed forces, to compete in the World Military Triathlon Championships in mid-June in Otepaa, Estonia. This isn’t the first time McDonagh, a lieutenant junior grade, has made a run for Navy honors. She was on the All-Navy cross country team in 2006 and 2007, representing the Navy versus the other services in the Armed Forces Cross Country Championships. “This year I was part of the All-Navy triathlon team. I competed in the Armed Forces Triathlon Championships on May 31 in Ventura, California, and placed high enough to make Team USA,” she says. In June, McDonagh, 26, trained with Team USA in California, across the country from her base in Charleston, S.C., where she is stationed at the Navy’s Nuclear Power Training Command. “I teach reactor dynamics and core characteristics to officers that are going to be operating nuclear reactors on aircraft carriers and submarines,” says McDonagh, who also is in charge of the base’s physical fitness program for some 250 officers. A President’s Scholar at Tech, McDonagh earned a master’s degree in aeronautical science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. She also excelled in athletics at Tech, where she was a member of the cross country, track and swim teams as Jenny Lentz. Her husband, Neil McDonagh, Mgt 05, was on Tech’s cross country and track teams as well. He now runs a running and triathlon shop in Charleston called Trysports. — KLW Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine • Summer 2008 26
