Alumni Magazine - Summer 2008 - (Page 5) VIEWPOINT A Banner Year Joseph P. Irwin, IM 80, Publisher John C. Dunn, Editor Kimberly Link-Wills, Managing Editor Leslie Overman, Assistant Editor Everett Hullum, Design It was a terrific fiscal year at your Alumni Association. At its conclusion, I want to say thanks to all of you — our most loyal and supportive alumni. We’ve celebrated our 100th anniversary this year through our events, our communications and special activities. The publication of our book, “Ramblin’ Wrecks From Georgia Tech,” and its companion DVD kicked it all off, and if you haven’t purchased a copy, you should. It’s a great, enjoyable recap of Georgia Tech and its alumni. Very attractive banners now mark the campus in key strategic areas recognizing the centennial as well. At an extraordinary edition of our annual Presidents’ Dinner at Epps Aviation, Chair Meade Sutterfield toasted the anniversary and feted Dr. Wayne Clough and his wife, Anne, on their years at Tech. In June, our young alumni held their first reunion and at center stage was Rappel for Roll Call. Thanks to Jim Borders of Novare, our young alumni had the opportunity to rappel from the Viewpoint, a magnificent 36-story condominium and retail complex on Peachtree Street, by raising $1,000 each for Roll Call. It was an exhilarating day in support of Tech. This fall, you’ll see Buzz Around Town. We’ve commissioned 25 fiberglass Buzzes to be professionally decorated by artists in support of various student and alumni groups. We’ll be auctioning off the Buzzes later in the fall after a period of display. You can get one too if you like. But you have to act fast because they’re going quickly. Without your loyal and continued support, Georgia Tech would be a mere shell of the institution it is today. Alumni Association Executive Committee William J. Todd, IM 71 Chair C.
