Mike Koster, EE 86, MS EE 87, has been promoted to principal engineer with EMS Technologies, for which he designs microwave and antenna systems for defense and communication applications. Greg Nelson, ME 82, has joined PNM in Albuquerque, N.M., as director of advanced generation development. Nelson is responsible for the development of clean/renewable energy projects from concept through construction. Craig Sands, IE 83, retired from the Air Force in April with the rank of lieutenant colonel. Sands was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. Laura Byrd Sanio, ISyE 86, and her husband, Will, announce the birth of a daughter, Kathryn Marie “Katie,” on Jan. 1. Sanio is a full-time mother and the family lives in Tucker, Ga. Douglas D. Selph, Econ 86, a partner with Morris, Manning and Martin LLP, has been elected to the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. A past chair of the executive committee of the Georgia Bar’s real property law section, Selph frequently speaks at bar seminars and has published articles in the Georgia Law Review and Georgia Bar Journal. He also is a member of the Real Estate Investment Advisory Council’s Southeast chapter board of directors. Thomas Underwood, MS EE 82, joined Matria Healthcare Inc. as executive vice president of technology in June. Emily joins Michael, 3, and Anna, 5, at the family’s home in Sharpsburg, Ga. Julie is a full-time mother and Gary is vice president of information technology at Alltel Wireless. Bryn Byers, Arch 94, and his wife, Angela, announce the birth of a son, Finn Campbell, on June 19. Finn joins brother Reece, 1, at the family’s home in Vinings, Ga. Cunningham sells and delivers consulting services for Hewlett-Packard in Atlanta. Fernando Filandro de Aguero, NE 97, is a founder and chief executive officer of Catalyst Natural Gas, a privately owned, owner-operated natural gas marketer in Atlanta. A featured speaker at professional industry forums and conferences as well as community and civic events, he continues to provide energy industry consulting services to a wide group of clients. Chung, ABiol 86, EE 86, has written a book, “Be Hungry,” which details his approach to helping heart patients lose weight. Chung is a board-certified cardiologist who has had a solo cardiology practice in Atlanta since 2001. Rich Clifford, MS AE 82, of Houston, has been promoted to deputy program manager of the space shuttle program with Boeing Co. Clifford is a former NASA astronaut. James J. Tom Foltz, EE 84, has been promoted to colonel in the Air Force and is serving with the Defense Information Systems Agency in Falls Church, Va., as deputy chief of the Center for Network Services in the agency’s Global Information Grid Combat Support Directorate.
