Bob “Bongo” Knapp, APhys 80, has joined the Missile Defense Agency groundbased interceptor project office in Huntsville, Ala., as a booster engineer in federal service. Mike Koster, EE 86, MS EE 87, has been promoted to principal engineer with EMS Technologies, for which he designs microwave and antenna systems for defense and communication applications. Koster lives in Duluth, Ga., with his wife, Renee Dominy Koster, EE 87, MS EE 88, and two sons. Cherryl Turner McKee, HS 83, is a consulting manager with PowerHealth Solutions. PHS offers decision support, performance management and strategic analysis and reporting solutions to health care organizations. She and her husband, Jim, live in Alpharetta, Ga., with their daughter, Jordan, 5, and son, Brandon, 12. Greg Nelson, ME 82, has joined PNM in Albuquerque, N.M., as director of advanced generation development. Nelson is responsible for the development of clean/renewable energy projects from concept through construction. Craig Sands, IE 83, retired from the Air Force in April with the rank of lieutenant colonel. Sands was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. Laura Byrd Sanio, ISyE 86, and her husband, Will, announce the birth of a daughter, Kathryn Marie “Katie,” on Jan. 1. Sanio is a full-time mother and the family lives in Tucker, Ga. Douglas D. Selph, Econ 86, a partner with Morris, Manning and Martin LLP, has been elected to the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. A past chair of the executive committee of the Georgia Bar’s real property law section, Selph frequently speaks at bar seminars and has published articles in the Georgia Law Review and Georgia Bar Journal. He also is a member of the Real Estate Investment Advisory Council’s Southeast chapter board of directors. Thomas Underwood, MS EE 82, joined Matria Healthcare Inc. as executive vice president of technology in June. Underwood leads the company’s information technology, informatics and product development initiatives. He previously served as president of global shared services at First Consulting Group. Mat Waites, MS ICS 81, has been named the chief information officer for The Little Clinic in Brentwood, Tenn. Walke III, ChE 87, has been appointed executive manager of product management for SmartPlant 3D, Intergraph Corp.’s Process, Power & Marine division’s next-generation automated 3D CAD application. He also has been elected by his peers to Intergraph’s Sapphire Circle, a distinction reserved for the top 1 percent of the company’s employees. He joins sister Chloe, 4, at the family’s home in Loganville, Ga. Boyd is a senior design engineer with Carter & Sloope Inc. Jim Brennan, ME 97, and his wife, Joy, of Decatur, Ga., announce the birth of a daughter, Anna Elizabeth, on May 30. Brennan is a business line manager for IBM Internet Security Systems. Julie Doris Butler, IntA 93, MS PubPol 95, and Gary M. Butler, EE 91, MS Mgt 93, announce the birth of a daughter, Emily Joyanna, on Jan. 8. Emily joins Michael, 3, and Anna, 5, at the family’s home in Sharpsburg, Ga. Julie is a full-time mother and Gary is vice president of information technology at Alltel Wireless. Bryn Byers, Arch 94, and his wife, Angela, announce the birth of a son, Finn Campbell, on June 19. Finn joins brother Reece, 1, at the family’s home in Vinings, Ga. Byers is a senior architectural project manager at Gensler and a volunteer diver at the Georgia Aquarium. Finn and Reece are grandsons of Kenneth G. Byers Jr., EE 66, MS EE 68. Stephen Choy, IE 92, received a doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy in May. In June, he began a pharmacy practice residency with Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Fontana, Calif. Ben Clopper, CE 97, and his wife, Ginger, announce the birth of a daughter, Meredith, on June 24. Mandy is a fulltime mother. A major in the Air Force, Chris is a C-17 pilot currently stationed at Altus Air Force Base. Brett Cunningham, EE 92, was awarded an MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School in May and was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society. Cunningham sells and delivers consulting services for Hewlett-Packard in Atlanta. Fernando Filandro de Aguero, NE 97, is a founder and chief executive officer of Catalyst Natural Gas, a privately owned, owner-operated natural gas marketer in Atlanta. A featured speaker at professional industry forums and conferences as well as community and civic events, he continues to provide energy industry consulting services to a wide group of clients. He is on the board of the Celia Y. Marcos Scholarship Fund and the Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association. He lives in Roswell, Ga., with his wife and two children. Watson Lee Dorn III, Arch 92, and his wife, Alice, announce the birth of a daughter, Ruthanna Hudgens Dorn, on Feb. 15. Chung, ABiol 86, EE 86, has written a book, “Be Hungry,” which details his approach to helping heart patients lose weight. Chung is a board-certified cardiologist who has had a solo cardiology practice in Atlanta since 2001. Rich Clifford, MS AE 82, of Houston, has been promoted to deputy program manager of the space shuttle program with Boeing Co. Clifford is a former NASA astronaut. James J. Collins, CE 85, has been promoted to vice president and Savannah branch manager for Thomas & Hutton Engineering Co., for which he has been an employee since 1987. William Fitzgerald, EE 87, joined Harris Stratex Networks in May as senior product line business manager for the Americas. He and his wife, Suzanne Brown Fitzgerald, IE 88, and their son, William Benjamin, live in Cary, N.C. Tom Foltz, EE 84, has been promoted to colonel in the Air Force and is serving with the Defense Information Systems Agency in Falls Church, Va., as deputy chief of the Center for Network Services in the agency’s Global Information Grid Combat Support Directorate. Foltz previously worked in the 1990s Kristen Anclien, IE 96, a real estate broker, is the owner of RE/MAX Around Atlanta in Sandy Springs, Ga. Christopher Annunziata, IntA 93, has opened CKA Mediation and Arbitration Services, an Atlanta-based alternative dispute resolution practice.
