Elliott works in project management for the Fluor Corp. in Greenville, S.C. Carrie Butler Elwell, Mgt 98, is the owner and operator of a Kids ’R’ Kids franchise in Apollo Beach, Fla. She opened the store in August 2007. Doylelaleana Welborn Foister, BC 93, and Ron Foister, BC 93, who is a fifthgeneration builder, opened Ron Foister Custom Homes LLC in March 2006. Since its inception, RFCH has been featured in The Business Journal and Builder Update and has been on the cover of Triad Homes Monthly. In May, one of Ron’s custom houses won the gold award in the 50th Annual Parade of Homes. The Foisters live in Greensboro, N.C., with children Katie Marie, 1; Lily Grace, 3; Jesse, 6; and Faith, 8. Doylelaleana is a home-school mom and the broker-incharge of the family’s real estate company. Ryan O. Hall, Mgt 97, married Vanessa J. Westbrook on May 3. Hall is a program director at IBM Corp., and the couple live in Atlanta. Dayna Dunbar Hamm, Mgt 96, and her husband, Rich Hamm, ME 96, MS ME 98, announce the birth of their son, Timothy Charles, on Oct. 23. Charlie joins his brother, Will, at the family’s home in Cincinnati. Dayna is a full-time mother. Rich is a technology leader at Procter & Gamble. Brandy Brooks Harvey, Mgt 92, and Jed Harvey, IE 92, announce the birth of a son, Alec Edward, on June 18. Jed is CEO and Brandy is CFO of Go Technologies, an automation consulting firm founded by Jed in 1999. The family lives in Marietta, Ga. John Hedrick, IE 99, and Louise Marburger Hedrick, Mgt 01, announce the birth of a son, Trent John, on April 25. Trent joins brother Dolen, 2, at the family’s home in Windermere, Fla. Louise soon will return to the Coca-Cola Company. John is senior director of operations for 7-Eleven. Lara O. Hodgson, AE 93, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority by Gov. Sonny Perdue. Hodgson, who is the CEO of Insomnia Consulting LLC, teaches real estate finance as an adjunct professor in Georgia Tech’s MBA program. Hodgson received a master’s degree from Harvard University. Cayman Percy James, CE 99, MS EnvE 01, and Daniel James, EE 00, announce the birth of a son, Ethan Rex, on Sept. 25, 2007. Cayman is a professional engineer working part time with CH2M HILL, and Danny is a contractor with AT&T’s operations and services development. The family lives in Peachtree Corners, Ga. Kathleen A. Kori, AMath 98, and her husband, Chad, announce the birth of a daughter, Kaylee Elizabeth, on June 29. The family lives in Conyers, Ga. Calvin Mackie, ME 90, MS ME 92, PhD ME 96, has been selected as a fellow in the inaugural class for the United States/South Africa Center for Effective Leadership and Public Values at Duke University and Southern University. The program seeks to enhance the capacity of midcareer leaders serving Louisiana to contribute to the empowerment of their communities and the transformation of the state. Training will occur in Louisiana and South Africa. In July, Mackie served as the keynote speaker for the Council of African Canadian Education Institute in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is president of the Channel ZerO Group, committed to maximizing the effectiveness and potential of individuals and organizations. Vivek Maddala, EE 95, has been awarded a 2008 Sundance Fellowship for film music composition. As a fellow, Maddala will be collaborating with writer/director Moon Molson on his feature film, “Meadowlandz,” and on a documentary feature that will be screened at next year’s film festival. He also will be working with a distinguished group of creative advisers, including composers who worked on such films as “No Country for Old Men” and “Adaptation” and the Austin Powers trilogy. Diana Rochester McCray, ChE 98, and her husband, Jim, announce the birth of a son, Jacob Worth, on Dec. 11. The family lives in Holly Springs, N.C. Joseph J. “Jake” McGahee, CE 99, and his wife, Emily, announce the birth of a son, Mitchell Andrew, on March 29. He joins his brother, Joseph Edward, 2, at the family’s home in Church View, Va. McGahee is a project engineer with AES Consulting Engineers. Anne Bracken McGraw, Mgt 99, and Ryan McGraw, Mgt 98, announce the birth of a daughter, Cora Elizabeth, on April 15. The family lives in Nashville, Tenn., where Anne is the marketing director at Dealerskins, and Ryan is a Salesforce.com implementation consultant. Susan Denise Melton, CmpE 92, received a doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in May. Brian E. Ranck, Mgt 98, has been named director of business development in the Atlanta office of BNY Mellon Wealth Management. He will be working with financially successful individuals and families, their offices and endowments and foundations to identify how the firm can help them reach their overall financial goals. Ranck previously was a portfolio manager for BNY Mellon. He lives in Johns Creek, Ga., with his wife and two children. Anthony “David” Scott, EE 99, MS ECE 01, of Washington, D.C., accepted a position as a technology, media and telecommunications strategy manager at Deloitte Consulting LLP in May. Jonathan Sherman, IE 93, and his wife, Elaine, announce the birth of a son, Riley John, on Feb. 14. Riley joins his brothers, Nathan and Miller, at the family’s home in Charlotte, N.C. Sherman is a health care consultant. David Stone, AE 94, and his wife, Stacey, announce the birth of their son, Cameron Thomas, on March 13. Stone is a materials engineer supporting Army aviation at U.S. Ramblin’ Roll Christopher Kunney, MS MoT 99, has been named chief information officer and vice president of information services for Piedmont Healthcare. His responsibilities include planning and directing information services, developing long-term strategies to support and enhance its business strategies and assessing and ensuring infrastructure and resource requirements across the system. He joined Piedmont in 2003. A former adjunct professor for DeVry University, he recently was named the recipient of the first Minority Scholarship Award from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, of which he is a member.
