Jud is a senior research engineer at the Georgia Tech Research Institute and an adjunct professor in the Institute’s School of Materials Science and Engineering. Amy Latimer Rice, Mgt 92, and Jim Rice, EE 92, announce the birth of a daughter, Carolyn Sara, on Dec. 27. Carolyn joins brothers Thomas, 2, and Patrick, 5, at the family’s home in Alpharetta, Ga. Merrill Romanik, M Arch 94, has been promoted to regional managing principal for Cubellis’ South region, which includes Florida offices in Fort Lauderdale and Naples as well as a future Atlanta office. Romanik will continue to serve as operating principal of the Fort Lauderdale office. Kurt Sexton, IE 99, and his wife, Crystal, announce the birth of a son, Colin Reed, on Nov. 13. Colin joins brother Grant, 2, at the family’s home in Union, Ky. Sexton is an assistant manager in supplier commodity engineering for Toyota Engineering & Manufacturing North America. Stacia Smith, Mgt 92, and her husband, Carl Lingenfelter, announce the birth of a son, Blake Seabrook, on Dec. 10. Blake joins brothers Drew, 2, and Knox, 4, at the family’s Where Is He Now? As a Tech student Owen Forrester, IM 61, hosted a weekly hour-long “Dance Party” on Atlanta TV station WLW-A. On Feb. 9, 1959, he filled in for Dick Clark on “American Bandstand” and introduced guest star Johnny Angel. The Georgia Tech Alumnus said in March of that year, “Forrester believes the Rock-and-Roll fad that sustains his TV show will play out in another year. But he looks for a future in radio or TV after he graduates and serves his four years in the Navy.” Today, Forrester is a U.S. District Court judge in Atlanta. He has held the office since January 1982. GARY MEEK property for Ideal Standard International in January and now lives in Brussels, Belgium. Merkel married Jeffrey Baxter Callender on April 14, 2007. Keri Paarz Michaelis, Mgt 95, and her husband, Charlie, announce the birth of a daughter, Nora Louise, on Feb. 27. Nora joins brothers Foster and Luke at the family’s home in Alpharetta, Ga. Janice I. Navarro, ME 91, and Joaquin J. Soler, Mgt 91, announce the birth of a daughter, Almudena Ines, on Oct. 22. She joins brothers Imanol and Ilan at home in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Kenneth E. Norman, EE 92, was selected for promotion to lieutenant colonel with the Air Force. Norman received a master’s degree in computer science with a major in software engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology at WrightPatterson Air Force Base in Ohio. He then was assigned to the base’s research laboratory as a program manager. William R.T. “Bill” Oakes III, Mgt 91, who appears on the nationally televised show “MatchPoint America,” has been renewed for his third season on the show as co-host and writer and also has been named a produc- er. The show, focusing on professional tennis issues, airs on The Tennis Channel, FSN South and Atlanta’s WXIA 11 during the summer. Oakes works for the U.S. Tennis Association Southern Section as director of sales and marketing and lives in Atlanta with his wife, Shea, and children, Lealand, 2, and Ansley, 5. Jan Osburg, MS AE 96, of Pittsburgh, announces the birth of a daughter, Mary Ellen. Osburg recently joined the RAND Corp. as an aerospace and defense analyst.
