The Buzz Around Town sculptures were erected in September to salute the Alumni Association’s centennial. Vote for the best Buzz at gtalumni.org/ buzz_votes/new. The Alumni Association’s Web site also features photos of each Buzz as well as a map pinpointing the placement of the sculptures. The Web site will carry details of a planned auction. Proceeds from the sales of the Buzzes will benefit the organizations of the sponsors’ choice. Each fiberglass Buzz stands 5 feet tall. The platforms on which the sculptures stand carry the artists’ and sponsors’ names and commemorate the century of impact made by the Alumni Association, which was officially chartered in June 1908. From the moment the Buzz sculptures were put in place, they have attracted a swarm of attention. Students, alumni and their families gather around the sculptures for photographs, and passersby stop and admire the artists’ ingenuity. Two Alumni Association employees lent their artistic talents to the celebration. Jolie Rosenberg moonlights as artist Jolie Rose and her “Bee There or Bee2” Buzz stands outside the Alumni House. By day, Rosenberg is the assistant to Georgia Tech Alumni Association president Joe Irwin. Donna Sammander is a Tech student as well as a data coordinator for the Alumni Association. She was commissioned by AIESEC (the Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales or International Association of Students in Economics and Business Management) to create “I am an AIESECer,” displayed on Techwood Drive outside the Field residence hall. ERIC TURNER Artist Jolie Rose puts the finishing touches on her Buzz, titled “Bee There or Bee2.” Connect with Alumni in Your Area To find your local GT Club, log on to www.gtalumni.org/clubs or contact Jane Stoner at 404-385-2216 10 TechTopics | Winter 2008 http://www.gtalumni.org/buzz_votes/new http://www.gtalumni.org/buzz_votes/new http://www.gtalumni.org/clubs http://www.championsportstours.com/gtech
