GCSAA 2009 Conference Brochure - (Page 73) GCSAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AND GOLF CLASSIC ALL IN GULF SHORES! Experience paradise on the sugar-white beaches of the Gulf Coast as GCSAA and The Toro Company come together to host a GCSAA members-only networking event that provides multiple opportunities to connect with your peers. Spend time with fellow superintendents from around the world, sharing stories and ideas about golf course management issues; seeing beautifully manicured golf courses firsthand; and playing the game you love. This event is all about bringing members together to build lasting relationships with others who share similar goals and aspirations in the golf course management profession. Three full days have been planned with activities that will appeal to everyone. If you are a serious golfer who thrives on challenges, you will want to sign up for the National Championship. If you are a little less serious about your score and more interested in the opportunity to have fun with your colleagues, then the Golf Classic and Four-Ball Mixer are for you. Even if you’re not competing in the National Championship, you can still test your mettle in a variety of exciting skills contests: • A hole-in-one contest on all par-3 holes on all Four-Ball Mixer and Golf Classic courses. Prizes include a set of golf clubs, a premium electronics package, airline tickets, cruise tickets and more. One hole at each course will be specially designated to give you a shot at a prize worth $10,000. • Closest-to-the-pin contests. • Straight-drive contests. • Long-drive contests. • A 50-foot putting contest during round 1 of the Golf Classic with a grand prize worth $2,500. Players can qualify for a putt-off that will crown a grand champion after completion of the day’s round. Each course champion will receive a prize worth $500. For everyone, door prizes will be given away at the Welcoming Reception and the 19th Hole receptions on Sunday and Monday (must be present to win). Whether you want to enjoy a beautiful view of the Gulf, challenge your colleagues in the putting contest, or hang out with your peers at the 19th Hole – or later at local hot spots such as Lucy Buffet’s famous LuLu’s, FloraBama or The Wharf – Gulf Shores is where you will want to be. Be the first to experience these new activities, which will be capped off with an evening of musical entertainment by Ron Wright, CGCS, Country Club of Mobile, and other member musicians. Register by Nov. 1 to be entered into a drawing for free accommodations for four nights at the host hotel!
