GCSAA will host a roundtable discussion where chapter presidents will receive an update on the industry and GCSAA programs. GCSAA will also be gathering feedback from the presidents on what successes they've had and challenges they are still facing. Turf Bowl Kick-Off Reception Hosted by GCSAA President Patrick R. Finlen, CGCS, and featuring the recipient of the 2014 Old Tom Morris Award, Annika Sörenstam, this event is a celebration of the golf course superintendent profession. GCSAA will also recognize awards and honors in certification, service to the industry, environmental stewardship and advocacy. Patrick R. Finlen Annika Sörenstam Annika Sörenstam, renowned professional golfer, ambassador of the game and founder of multiple philanthropic endeavors, will receive GCSAA's highest honor, the Old Tom Morris Award. Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Annika won 89 times on the world stage during the course of her 15-year career, including 72 LPGA events. She has 10 majors to her credit and eight player-of-the-year awards, and she was named the Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Her foundation, the ANNIKA Foundation, teaches children the importance of living a healthy, active lifestyle through fitness and nutrition and offers aspiring junior golfers opportunities to pursue their dreams. She reaches out to youth through many venues, including the ANNIKA Academy, her state-of-the-art golf and fitness teaching facility in Orlando. In 2008, she joined with Arnold Palmer to serve as an Ambassador of the United States Golf Association with the objective of making the game more accessible. She also serves as the International Ambassador of The First Tee's Nine Healthy Habits.
