THE BIG QUESTION ABOUT SEASON 6 of
Arrow is who lives and who dies? Last year,
things concluded with an island explosion
that may have wiped out some cast
members.
"It's tricky," agrees executive producer
Wendy Mericle. "We've never done a
cliffhanger where we leave everybody's
life hanging by a thread, with the obvious
exception of Oliver. We went out with a
bang, and not everybody will be back."
Willa Holland (Thea Queen) admits, "It's
a diļ¬ƒcult situation. I've been on the fan
side, too, and I know what it's like being on
the edge and not knowing what's going
on. We're pulling a Walking Dead right now
where everything was up in the air about
who was going to die."
The ensemble of characters has gone
through a lot of changes, which will be
reflected more than ever as it's revealed
who will survive into the new year.
"The character changes are all in the
nooks and crannies," says Stephen Amell
(Oliver Queen/Green Arrow). "We did a
scene where I'm talking to someone on the
team, and instead of barking a direction I
changed it so I just look at them and they
acknowledge what they have to do. It used
to be, I'd come back to the Arrow Cave, I'd
yell at people, I'd walk away. Trying not
to do that anymore, because if we're still
doing that, then what was the point of
season 5?"
For Thea, Holland expresses her hope
that the character "continues taking herself
into more strong, independent areas of
her life rather than succumbing to the
amount of turmoil that she's been under.
She's done a very good job, I think, of taking
all of the struggle and the torments and
everything that she's been through and
channeling that into something positive."
And Katie Cassidy, who started as Laurel
Lance/Black Canary and is now playing the
Earth-2 villainess Black Siren, believes that
redemption is a possibility for her character:
"She does this evil manipulation thing, but
it's almost like her defense mechanism and
her habit. It's a place that she's just used
to going to, but if you break that down
and get through her walls, she has a sad
backstory and the other characters will
be able to see that and have sympathy or
empathy for her." We'll see.

STRAIGHT AND ARROW
They don't call it the "Arrow-verse" for nothing - The CW's adaptation of DC's Green
Arrow comic book character laid the groundwork for The Flash, Supergirl and all
the other network's superhero shows. So you'd best check out the show's previous
