WALK
D
THE WALKING DEAD
SEASON: 8:
WHAT TO EXPECT
By Arnold T. Blumberg

AS RICK AND THE GANG GO TO
"All Out War" with Negan, it's worth
taking a look at the comic book story
arc that drives this year's episodes and
what to expect from season 8 of The
Walking Dead.
It's been an epic journey for Rick
Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his postapocalyptic survivors ever since they first
made their way to the CDC and faced a
bleak future in a Walker-infested world.
The series has gotten bleaker, and most
of the folks that made that first little
jaunt to the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention are dead now. But as we
prepare to embark on the eighth year
of The Walking Dead - with its premiere
marking 100 episodes - it's time to see
what may lie ahead.

SWINGING:
Michonne (Danai
Gurira) prepares
for all out war in
The Walking Dead
season 8.

As we know, the television incarnation
of this saga has fluctuated pretty wildly in
its faithfulness to the original comic book

there's barely a hint of the version people
remember reading (we take a look at that in
the sidebar).
Season 8, however, could very well be
one of the most direct adaptations yet
of a Walking Dead comic book arc, in this
case the "All Out War" story that ran in
issues #115-126 from October 2013 to April
2014, in which Rick leads an alliance of the

Hilltop and Kingdom communities against
Negan (played in the show by Jeffrey Dean
Morgan) and his Saviors. But how accurate
will this adaptation be and what might
change? Read on...
WARNING: Many SPOILERS for the story as
it appeared in the comic show up here, so
turn back now if you've never read the series
and don't want to know what might hit
your screen this fall.

WAR IS NO FUN
War is always messy, but this time we really
are dealing with a mess of apocalyptic
proportions. There are no fewer than five
distinct groups involved, including the
Alexandrians, the Saviors, the Kingdom,
the Hilltop and the Scavengers. There are
