This low-key surprise features a
charming, funny turn by Paul Rudd
as Scott Lang, heir to the shrinkifying hardware of
original Ant-Man Hank Pym (Michael Douglas).

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

ENTERTAINMENT

STORY: Dracula boards the Love Boat.

McQuarrie is back (unfortunately, MI:5
composer Joe Kraemer isn't) and so is
Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust in the latest
installment of this venerable franchise.

You'd never guess a bunch of guys
fighting on an airport tarmac would
be so thrilling but by the time a John Romita-style
Spider-Man shows up and Ant-Man starts growing
instead of shrinking you have the makings of one
of the all-time great action sequences.

BLACK & DEKKER: This is the third in the

series of surprisingly successful takes
on the Universal movie monsters from
director Tartakovsky, the man behind
Cartoon Network hits Dexter's Laboratory
and Samurai Jack. Tartakovsky's eyepopping visual style and offbeat humor
make a smooth transition from 2D cel
animation to 3D computer animation,
and the voice cast of Adam Sandler, Andy
Samberg, Molly Shannon, Mel Brooks and
Steve Buscemi doesn't hurt either.

YOUR MISSION IF YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT
IT: Tom Cruise has worked wonders keeping

the M:I missions fresh, and we expect
the latest installment to have the same
incredible stunts, action, espionage and
fun as the last few films, which have only
gotten better after the early De Palma and
John Woo misfires. Ever since J.J. Abrams'
Mission: Impossible III, the franchise has
really lit the fuse and McQuarrie seems
made to make these films.

Another improbable Marvel success
story, this hallucinogenic fantasy
puts Steve Dikto's florid master sorcerer on the big
screen in the form of a highly convincing Benedict
Cumberbatch.

James Gunn continues his

equalizing.

BLACK & DEKKER: It's too bad director

CALL MY AGENT: Having Antoine Fuqua

Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure, The
Sorcerer's Apprentice) couldn't bring
frequent collaborator Nicolas Cage
onboard this production, as Cage vs. a
prehistoric shark sounds like the perfect
summer movie. Based on a series of
popular novels, this thriller has action
star Jason Statham, uber nerd Rainn
Wilson and Ruby Rose (as a woman
with the action-figure-ready name Jaxx
Herd) facing down a shark the size of
a couple of semi trucks. We're actually
embarrassingly excited about this one.

Marvel shakes up the Spider-Man
formula with Tom Holland as a
younger, inexperienced Peter Parker wearing a
high-tech Spidey suit provided to him by Tony
Stark. Michael Keaton's Vulture turns in one of the
greatest confrontation scenes in the MCU - and
it's just him and Holland talking in a car!

direct Denzel Washington in an update of
a mostly forgotten 1980s TV show might
have sounded like a crazy idea four years
ago, but Fuqua's The Equalizer earned
enough bank and good reviews to dig
Washington's agent, Robert McCall, out of
retirement one more time, giving Fuqua
and Washington their first opportunity to
make a sequel.

THOR: RAGNAROK
BUENA VISTA HOME
ENTERTAINMENT

Thor seems to take a detour into a
highly Jack Kirby-influenced corner
of the Guardian of the Galaxy's outer space turf
in this enjoyable sequel that again turns on Chris
Hemsworth's charm and some dazzling visuals.
