CONTENTS November 2009 Vol. 65, No. 11 FROM THE EDITOR It’s that time of year when we present the variety and creativity of select Georgia-made goods and agricultural products in our annual review. (See “New, inspired and tasty,” page 21.) While Georgia is typically thought of as an agricultural state (we plan to cover meat and dairy products in a future issue), it also offers some inspired manufactured goods. These small businesses mean jobs and tax dollars to state and local economies. Says writer Jane Garvey: “Each year, we look for products that we think tell the story of Georgia’s entrepreneurs, and in this economy, their impact is even more significant than ever.” On another front, the Crawford County Lions Club Disabled Veterans Deer Hunt hosts its third annual hunt, Nov. 6-7, welcoming military veterans to an all-expenses-paid weekend enjoying nature with their peers. Bob Paschal, president of the club and founder of the hunt, has a heart for fellow veterans, especially those whose wartime experiences left them physically or emotionally scarred. The hunt is limited to disabled military veterans who were under fire, hold a Purple Heart medal and are confined to a wheelchair or use prosthetics.
