Television star Sonny Shroyer of Valdosta, Enos from the “The Dukes of Hazzard,” co-starred with wellknown actor Dean Cain and Dalton’s Lori Beth Edgeman for Georgia director Lance W. Dreeson’s feature film “The Way Home” in Carrollton. The film is expected as an upcoming theater release. “I play Georgian Ed Walker who made a great difference in the lives of one West Georgia family,” he says. “I know this wonderful story will touch peoples’ hearts.” Viewers know Atlanta actor Wilbur Fitzgerald as Bruce Bennett from “Prison Break” or D.A. Darnelle on “In the Heat of the Night.” He continues to appear in Georgia films such as “Life as We Know It,” a romance drama starring Josh Duhamel and Katherine Heigl who are two unattached adults that receive custody of the orphaned daughter of their mutual best friends. “Some roles have taken me outside of Georgia, but there’s nothing as satisfying as working a long day with familiar crew members and returning home to my own bed in Atlanta,” he says. Fitzgerald worked in two of the three new Georgia series: Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Divas” in Peachtree City and Fox’s “Past Life” in Atlanta. CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” is using Monroe and Covington as its locale. TBS’s “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” features head writer Steve Coulter, a Canadian-born writer/ actor who lived in Georgia as an www.georgiamagazine.org actor for 20 years. “I came down to Atlanta [from New York] for a theater job and never went back,” he says. “The atmosphere here is so much more nurturing than Los Angeles or New York. There’s almost a pioneer spirit here, very little fear and cynicism. Fellow artists are extremely supportive of each other with very little competition.” Georgia’s film professionals create new moments in media history while communities court productions into their areas. The Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority (NWGJDA) compiles potential locations to lure producers to Walker, Catoosa, Chattooga and Dade counties.
