Strawberry Dream Cake Courtesy of the Georgia Egg Commission Vegetable spray 1 (18.25-ounce) box moist deluxe classic yellow cake mix 1 (17.6-ounce) box chocolate lover’s (or double fudge) brownie mix 2 (16-ounce) containers French vanilla cream frosting 1 (13.5-ounce) bag strawberry glaze 1-1/2 pounds whole fresh strawberries 1 milk chocolate bar thin slices on top of cake. Spoon 3 tablespoons glaze on top of strawberries in the center and gently spread to 1 inch of the sides of cake. Note: To hold cake layers together, insert 4 wooden picks into cake. Place second cake layer on top of wooden picks and spread frosting on top and sides of cake, taking care to smooth out the frosting on sides of the two cake layers. Garnish center of the top layer with sliced, fanned strawberries. Sprinkle top and sides of cake with milk chocolate shavings. Serves 8-10. Peanut Soup Courtesy of Don Koehler, of the Georgia Peanut Commission 1 (32-ounce) can chicken broth 12 ounces fat-free evaporated milk 44 ounces water (for rinsing), divided 2 cups uncooked garden rotini (tricolor) 1 cup frozen whole kernel corn 1 cup diced carrots 4 green salad onions, chopped 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter 4 ounces crumbled feta cheese 1/4 cup bacon pieces 1 teaspoon salt In a stock pot, pour in chicken broth and evaporated milk. Fill chicken broth container with a full measure of cold water and add to the stock pot; ﬁll evaporated milk cans with water and pour water into stock pot. Add the remaining soup ingredients and bring to a full boil, stirring occasionally to keep soup from sticking. Once boiling, turn heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 45 minutes. Note: The vegetables and pasta will be very tender, and the longer you simmer the more full-bodied the ﬂavor of this soup becomes. Ladle into soup bowls to serve. Variation: Top soup with shredded sharp cheddar cheese and chop and sprinkle 50B Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat 2 (9x9-inch) nonstick cake pans with vegetable spray. Cut 2 circles of wax paper to ﬁt inside bottom of cake pans. Place wax paper into pans; set aside. In large bowl, prepare yellow cake mix according to box instructions, using eggs, oil and water. In separate bowl, prepare brownie mix according to box instructions, using eggs, oil and water. Pour equal amounts of cake mix into prepared cake pans, using a measuring cup. Using a teaspoon, drizzle brownie mix over each cake, one at a time, until all brownie mix is used. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean. Remove pans from oven and let cakes cool in cake pans on a rack until completely cooled. When cooled, remove cake from pan and peel off waxed paper layer. Place cake onto cake plate. Spread icing on top and sides of cake. Slice strawberries in Do you tailgate?
