Camping, fishing, geocaching and boating
Anyone longing for outdoor adventure can find it at Lake Lanier, where the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates more than 40 dayuse parks, nine campgrounds and 50-plus boat launches, some that stay open all year. Day-use parks offer hiking and beaches. Campsites are in great demand and can accommodate RVs, trailers, pop-up trailers and tents. There are campsites with electricity and water, as well as primitive locations. Campgrounds have bathroom facilities. The Lodges at Lake Lanier offer two- and four-bedroom cabins for rent by the night, for weekends or longer. Kitchens are fully equipped; fireplaces and covered decks complete the ambience. Some cabins have hot tubs. Geocaching has become a popular draw at Lake Lanier, and there are some fairly active sites on the public lands managed by the Corps.
