What better place than Dublin—Dublin, Ga., that is—to celebrate the feast of the saint who used the shamrock as a teaching tool and reportedly drove the snakes out of Ireland? Located in middle Georgia, the “Emerald City,” as it has been coined, hosts more than 30 St. Patty’s Day events that begin in February and continue through March 24. Since 1966, the Dublin-Laurens County St. Patrick’s Festival has brought Irish fun to festival-goers from far and near. Participate in the Leprechaun Road Race, grab a piece of sidewalk to watch the annual parade, indulge your artistic side at an arts and crafts festival, see Dublin from the air at Irish BalloonFest and enjoy great food.
