CITY OF COLLEGE PARK Though the New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music exhibit recently ﬁnished its nearly two-year tour to 12 Georgia communities, the exhibit makes an encore appearance this month at the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta, running Jan. 18-Feb. 14, thanks to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Georgia Humanities Council. DUBLIN DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY * Dublin developments. Dublin was recently awarded two Tourism Product Development Agreements totaling nearly $24,000 in grants from the Georgia Department of Economic Development's Tourism Product Development Division. The ﬁrst will help renovate the town's Carnegie Library. The second, along with matching funds and a grant from the Dublin-Laurens Tourism Council, will allow the replacement of the stage in Theatre Dublin. Also in the works is the city's million-dollar pedestrian plaza. * Take a taste. Serenity Cellars, the producer of "Old World" wines in North Georgia Wine Country, opened its new Tuscan-inspired tasting room in Cleveland. Open weekends, the tasting room is the realization of a 20-year dream and fuses wine, music and art for guests. Participating musicians include Chuck Leavell, the McIntosh County Shouters, Mudcat, The Skillet Lickers, and the Albany Civil Rights Institute Freedom Singers, among others. Centennial Farms honored Fannin-Cooper Farm, Hiram The Georgia Centennial Farm Program honored century-old farms from across the state at the Georgia National Fair in Perry in October. This year's ceremony was the 20th year that The Georgia Centennial Farm program honored farms, awarding 26 individual farm owners with certiﬁcates signed by Gov. Nathan Deal. Andy Cooper, owner of FanninCooper Farm in Hiram, was awarded the Georgia Centennial Farm Award, which celebrated Cooper's farm being at least 100 years old and earning a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. "It felt good," Cooper says. "My family has always revered history, and the farm had a good history. It needed to be preserved so future generations can see how things used to be." More online at www.georgiamagazine.org Along with the Georgia Centennial Farm Award, the Georgia Centennial Farm Program also recognizes farms that are part of the National Register and owned by the same family for at least 100 years. The third award, the Georgia Centennial Family Farm Award, distinguishes farms that are 100 years old but do not have to be owned by the same family or included in the National Registry.
