Founded in Woodstock in 1986, Pillow Perfect was
the inspiration of two brothers, Paul and David (now retired) Ratner, originally from Miami, Fla.
Why did they decide to make pillows? "At the time
they thought [pillows] would be easy to manufacture,"
says vice president and design director Diane Greber,
"but they since found out that's not necessarily true."
Greber notes that designs were simpler 30 years ago.
There has been growth in the company's product
lineup and in the size of the facility, which is now 40,000
square feet. "It was very quickly after they started that
they began manufacturing pillows for wicker furniture,"
she notes, adding, "Remember those green-and-whitestriped cotton cushions back then?"
Today the popular outdoor products aren't made
from cotton but from spun polyester. There's also a small
line of acrylics. They're water-resistant-not waterproof,
she hastens to add-and they have an ultraviolet rating
for sun.
"The thing that people love about our products is
that they're fun, they're bright, they're colorful," says Greber. "We have an extensive selection of patterns and colors. We also have an indoor line."
A new line of indoor seasonal pillows includes
holiday and harvest themes. Chenille pillows come out in
the fall, she says, followed by cottons and lighter-weight

Pillow Perfect weathered the recession by turning from brick-and-mortar outlets to online sales, so
the turnaround time is very short, she says. While some
manufacturing is done overseas, the Georgia plant
employs about 100 people to handle the domestic
production.
