North America's premier farm show highlights

B
efore the sun peeks over the edge of
Spence Field in Moultrie on the first day
of the Sunbelt Agricultural Expo each
October, more than 1,200 exhibitors and organizers have been busy for days. Among those
setting up trade displays at the annual event are
farm equipment and tire manufacturers, officials
with Georgia's agricultural commodities, workers from Southeastern agricultural colleges and
universities and groups such as Georgia 4-H,
Georgia Young Farmers and Georgia's electric
membership cooperatives (EMCs). The 600-acre
working farm's fields of corn, cotton, peanuts
and soybeans await harvesting, and fields of hay
lie ready for cutting, tedding, raking and baling. Soon,
more than 80,000 visitors from around the world will
arrive for North America's premier farm show.
It's no wonder Georgia is home to the Sunbelt Ag
Expo: Agriculture is Georgia's No. 1 industry, contributing
approximately $74.9 billion annually to the state's economy, according to the University of Georgia Center for
Agribusiness and Economic Development. The expo, set
for Oct. 17-19, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

their farms thriving. But you don't have to be a farmer to
enjoy all that the expo offers.
Visitors can browse the more than 1.6 million square
feet of exhibit space that offers shopping opportunities
for not only farm-related products and services but also
clothing, home products, food, gifts and more.

or a hat, as most activities are outdoors. You can bring
