Sculpture gardens and parks connect
people, art, nature

Large-scale sculpture garden
"I had a horse trail through the
woods and had an idea to turn it into
a sculpture garden," says Jack Cashin,
owner of Chukkar Farm Polo Club in
Alpharetta. Cashin's Sculpture Garden, located on the farm's 100-plus
wooded acres, contains more than a
dozen monumental works that blend
art into the natural landscape.
Cashin has worn many hats
throughout the years: polo player,
publisher, restaurateur, actor, World

trolling through Georgia's sculpture gardens is a rich, multisensory journey of shifting shadows,
shapes and sounds in a setting enhanced by both nature and artist.
"The sculptures and the landscaping create a unified experience
for visitors to the garden," says Robert
Webb, donor and curator of the Robert T. Webb Sculpture Garden, an
open-air sculpture park and museum
in Dalton. "Each piece is sited with
the environment in mind, aligning
the color, form and volume of the
work with the trees, shrubs and flowers that flourish on the grounds. Paths
are integrated into a mature landscape to encourage visitors to pause
and reflect on the sculpture and the
beauty of nature."
