So in this year’s Official Guide to Glenwood Springs, we are telling the story of our community by focusing on residents who immigrated here from places near and far. Through their words we hope you’ll experience the charm, the beauty, the attractions and the history that have made us a vacation destination for over 100 years. As for me, I was born in Cleveland, OH, and discovered Glenwood Springs in the early 70s as a newlywed. My husband, John, was the acting controller for an emerging technology called oil shale. For the next 10 years we dreamed about moving to Colorado. In 1981 oil shale was booming again and we Marianne’s Picks, were able to make it happen.
