One of the most interesting lessons I’ve learned from these encounters is … you never know. Some of the least famous, speediest flashes-in-the-pan have been the most arrogant; some of the most prominent, the most gracious. Oprah, for example. I was on her show in the early ‘80s, when it was syndicated in only five states. She was warm and friendly. Fifteen years later, after she had become a planetary phenom, I was on her show again.
