Thoughts From the Associate Pastor’s Cluttered Top Floor

I write on the day of the
earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The words of Psalm 46 come so readily to mind: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult. The devastation is tremendous. The power of nature, awesome—both fearsome and fascinating. We can only imagine the pain victims and communities are feeling as so many and so much is lost in so short a time. The notion of recovery and restoration must seem like a distant and un-
reachable dream. We think of the Gulf Coast area in our own nation, still rebuilding schools and homes and hospitals and lives nearly a half decade later. Recovery is no small task. Resurrection is indeed a miracle. It may seem that the only thing to do after a

Join the Building Committee and architect Ted Vedock for a crucial meeting on Sunday, April 17, when we unveil the design. This will be the final opportunity to review the nearly completed plans and clarify how it all fits together. We’ll meet again in June to vote to go ahead on the project. The meeting will be from 6-8 at the church.
You may have seen the new banner Roxanne designed – if not, please take a look at it in the lobby. It provides a general time frame we expect to work under, mindful that design and construction is a dynamic process with the schedule possibly being modified. The committee representation has met with Manheim Township to present our plans. We have learned we will need to
apply for a zoning variance to expand the church, that we will have to go through the land development process, and that a storm water management module will be required. We have engaged David Miller/Associates to help us with the paperwork. We have signed on our mechanical/plumbing, electrical, civil engineer
