A Story From the Journey

In response to some of the challenges presented by Journey to Jerusalem, I decided to embrace journaling. I had started to feel the somewhat latent effects of our year of sorrow, ending in the death of my mother. I was hoping journaling would not only assist me with dealing with my grief, but help me re-organize my time as much of my spare time had been connected with the care of my mother. I had purchased a journal at a Christian bookstore, and thought that would be my tool. I wrote 2 pages of my thoughts and things that I was grateful for that first day and felt very proud to accomplish that. The second night, I did not write as much, but completed the task. The next night we got home after 11:00 P.M. and I was so tired I could not journal – and that was the end of it, until I received the Passport to Jerusalem. I felt that journaling in the smaller Daily Log & Reflection’s page might be more manageable than my previous goal of filling 2 pages of a journal each day. That was over 2 weeks ago, and I have not missed a night! I have decided to take a Journaling workshop and have gotten permission from the instructor to offer it to anyone at Grandview who may be interested. Recycling Pays
Thanks to Dan Horting and the many trips he has made to Lancaster Salvage, the church has received a total of $550 to date for our recycled metals.
Grocery Gift Cards
The gift card program was launched on August 24, 2008 with the Giant gift cards and it has grown to include Weis, Oregon Dairy, Stauffer’s, and Darrenkamps. The church buys the cards at a discount of 5-10% and sells them to you at face value. With your help we have been able to raise $25,000+ and want to thank everybody who’s using the cards for their weekly shopping. IF you haven’t made the switch to shopping with gift cards, ask yourself why. The greater the participation we have, the greater the blessing for Grandview. It is an additional way to be good stewards of our money. At no cost and little effort you are able to increase your financial support of the Church. It is easy to get the cards either week days at the Church Office or on Sunday mornings after Worship. Please share any questions, concerns or suggestions you have for improving the process. Thanks again for your participation in this wonderful program.
