Making Gentle A Bruised World

Youth Ministry
By George Swank Hey all! We have some important things happening this October. Our next Confirmation class is starting up with its first meeting on the 16th. This year we are changing things up a little bit by having three meetings each month instead of including these confirmation meetings into the regular High School youth group. This program also includes the mentorship piece. Mentors are adults in the Church who have agreed to walk with a student during their journey of confirmation. They are there to help them with questions they may have and to impart wisdom on the student. The mentor provides opportunities to build their relationship and talk about life lessons. This can take any shape that the mentor/student would like. At its core, it is all about building that relationship and learning from one another. The students are asked to find a mentor this month. If you are asked by a student, take some time to consider saying yes. It is an enriching opportunity for the both of you and it is often that the mentor learns as much from the student as the student learns from them. October can only mean one thing . . . (no not candy) CROP WALK! It is on the 21st of this month and we are meeting at the Barnstormers stadium at 1:15pm. Then we will walk to help stop hunger in both the world and right here in Lancaster. If you would like to sponsor a walker, you can let me know and I will get you connected with a student who is walking. Or, as we get closer to the date, look for a student with a CROP walk sticker and connect with them. Lets help CROP stop hunger. That brings you all up to date thus far. Enjoy my favorite season of the year!
