THE MESSENGER
Making Gentle A Bruised World
Let my people party!!
!
OK, Moses didn't exactly say it that way, but
he and Miriam with her tambourine led a
victory dance when they found themselves
walking on dry ground on the other side of the
sea, safe from Pharaoh's army. Freedom
deserves to be celebrated. God deserves to be
praised.!
!
So, we'll be ending our summer of studying
Exodus with a party. We'll all worship together
at 10am on Sunday, Aug. 31, and we'll follow
that up with a party on the lawn.!

Austin Wagner will be bringing some friends
from Temple University's jazz program to lead
us musically in familiar hymns of freedom as
well as new sounds. Who knows? There might
even be a tambourine involved. Or maybe
some cowbell. What does freedom sound like
to you? Horns? A singer or a piano player
going in new, unanticipated directions?!
!
If you want to be part of the party-planning
team, talk to Kirstin Shrom-Rhoads or contact
her at kirstin@grandviewumc.org. !

We're looking forward to this end of summer
celebration as we also anticipate a marvelous
autumn.!
