The Messenger - December 2017 - 2
2 THE MESSENGER DECEMBER 2017 Continued from Page 1 The Celebration Band will underscore the 9:30 service with artfully arranged versions of traditional carols. Combining strings, woodwinds, drums, keys, and voices, this service is sure to be a beautiful, joyful celebration of the season. Because Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday this year, we will have one combined worship service at 10am to celebrate Advent IV. Then, there will be four worship services at 5, 7, 9, and 11pm, with beautiful and diverse musical offerings by Grandview musicians and singers. The 5pm service is a brief, kid-friendly program to help our youngest worshippers experience the meaning of Christmas. The 7pm service is a candlelight service, thoughtfully designed for families. The Senior Choir sings at the 9pm traditional candlelight service, and at 11pm, Liz Fulmer creates a quiet and informal worship service with acoustic music. All are welcome to return to Grandview on Christmas morning, Monday, December 25 to worship with carols and Communion. Rev. Mary Merriman will lead this 10am service. Grandview Sings! Children's Community Choir Concert Join us for an entertaining evening of music from the 17-voice Grandview Sings! Choir on Friday, December 8, at 7pm in the Grandview sanctuary. With director Cindy McGary, and pianist, Cindy Kahler, the choir presents a variety of music of the season with the themes of Hope, Peace and Light. Highlights include "All on a Silent Night" with a cello solo by Carter Burkholder, a member of the choir. Lighter moments include, "African Gloria" with drum accompaniment, and the singer's favorite, "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch!" Invite your family and friends to this delightful evening of music. No tickets are required and refreshments are served after the concert. 2
