Campaign News September 2010 Important Dates The Journey of Faith Begins See that logo in the upper left-hand corner? We’re going to be seeing it a lot this fall. We’re about to embark on one of the most exciting projects in Grandview’s history, and this icon helps to show what it is all about. The hammer clues us in that this is a building project. In fact, we are hoping to raise $900,000 for renovations to our existing building that will give us roomier gathering space and restrooms, a more functional elevator and office suite, and more meeting space for adults, youth and children. The coffee cup speaks to the greater hospitality we hope to offer to this community through the more attractive, inviting space. And the cross in the middle shows that our focus is not merely on bricks and mortar, but on what God is doing here. Won’t it be amazing to see what God has in store for us as we do all in our power to serve and to elevate God’s purposes? That’s what it’s all about. In fact, the hammer represents more than just the physical construction we hope to start in 2011 after a successful campaign, concurrent with our annual stewardship campaign, this fall. It represents many of the activities people gather at Grandview to do: ministries like Appalachia Service Project, Grandview’s Local Outreach (GLO), and Habitat for Humanity—in which we literally take hammer in hand to go out and serve the world. We are hoping that by attending to the needs of our aging building, Grandview will be better equipped to “make gentle a bruised world.” And so our slogan says: “Building Up; Reaching Out.” As your pastors, our prayer is that your spiritual life will be built up this fall as we discover and name why we are so grateful to God—and why we want to do all in our power to offer that same, warm cup of faith to our neighbors.
