Visit Baltimore County Official Visitors Guide 2008 - (Page 9) Set sail from Sunset Harbor. For those looking to fish, Baltimore County offers chartered fishing boats that lead to fantastic fishing opportunities. From perch and bass to rockfish and flounder, fishermen will be happy with the variety of fish and the wonderful, relaxing scenery that enhances their trip. And after a day of fishing, grab a water taxi and head to one of the many area restaurants where you can try some of Maryland’s renowned crab cakes. Throughout the summer, Baltimore County’s water taxis take visitors from location to location on the Middle River. Aboard these smaller boats, visitors experience a more intimate trip—they’re closer to the water and have the opportunity to talk with the captain. Located off Middle River, a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay, and just minutes from Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, Sunset Harbor Marina is a full-service, family-oriented marina specializing in the storage, maintenance, repair, and sale of powerboats. “The Middle River offers boaters so many options,” says John Becker, owner of Sunset Harbor. “We’re only an hour and 45 minutes from Annapolis, an hour and a half from Kent, two hours from Havre de Grace or the C&O Canal. We’re also a popular spot because, even if the bay is rough, boaters can still get out on the protected tributaries and sheltered creeks.” While the boating and water-sport season is generally enjoyed from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Becker says that some of the most beautiful water experiences happen in the spring (April and May) and autumn (September and October).
