Visitor info Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) is your passport to the world. Two dozen scheduled airlines carry more than 36 million passengers a year to and from nearly 120 domestic destinations as well as Amsterdam, London, Reykjavik, Tokyo and cities in Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. MSP serves as a hub for Minnesota-based Northwest Airlines, the world’s fifth largest airline. •light rAil trAnsit •By AutomoBile The metro area is centered around north-south Interstate Highway 35 and east-west Interstate Highway 94. I-94 runs directly through Minneapolis and Saint Paul, and intersects with I-35 in both cities. I-35E feeds into Saint Paul and its surrounding suburbs, while I-35W feeds into Minneapolis and its adjacent suburbs. Light rail track connects the airport and Mall of America to downtown Minneapolis. Seventeen stations serve passengers along the way, allowing easy access to the Metrodome, Nicollet Mall and the Warehouse District. Ride fares are $2 for travel during rush hours and $1.50 for all other times. Dozens of downtown buildings in Minneapolis and Saint Paul are connected by miles of glass-enclosed walkways that allow you to escape the elements. Fares range from 50 cents for downtown travel in non-rush hours to $2.75 for express travel in rush hours. A six-hour pass is available for $3.50. To catch a cab, head to one of the designated taxi stands in downtown Minneapolis or Saint Paul, at the airport or at the Mall of America. From other locations, you’ll need to call ahead, as passing cabs may be infrequent or in use. Cab fares are regulated in the metro, requiring a $3 flag drop fee and $1.90 per-mile fee for every trip.
