This month, we preview some of the high-profile speakers who will be making presentations at our 2008 LiveXchange seminars and workshops. N ext month’s LiveXchange event will provide an intensive meeting ground for site selectors and senior economic developers. As we have for the past four years, Business Facilities is supplementing this unique experience with an all-star list of guest speakers, who will be making presentations and leading discussions on a number of hot-button issues. In previous columns on this page, we introduced several new speakers scheduled to appear at LiveXchange. Among them are Brooks Rainwater, director of Local Relations at the American Institute of Architects and lead author of the report, Local Leaders in Sustainability: A Study of Green Building Programs in Our Nation’s Communities, and Brandi Hanback, managing director of Rockefeller Group’s Foreign Trade Zone Services. Brooks is making a presentation at LiveXchange about the current state of green building in cities and counties across the country. Brandi’s presentation at LiveXchange will illuminate the intricacies of establishing and growing development through FTZs. This month, we would like to introduce you to our LiveXchange keynote speaker, Jeffrey M. Finn, and Jan Dickinson, who will host one of our seminar presentations. Jeff, a LiveXchange Gold Association Partner, is president and CEO of NAI Global, which with more than 165 affiliated commercial real estate brokerage firms and 325 offices in 55 OCTOBER 2008 countries throughout the world, is the largest managed network of commercial real estate service firms. The NAI system is involved in more than $45 billion in real estate transactions annually. Jeff will discuss the ways that today’s market fundamentals and tomorrow’s forecasts for both mature and emerging markets are creating outstanding opportunities for savvy companies. We also are pleased to welcome back as a LiveXchange seminar speaker Jan Dickinson, CEO and president of The Dickinson Consulting Group and president of The Relocation Center. The Dickinson Consulting Group serves as a corporate representative in site selection both domestically and internationally. The group manages planning, movement and setup of a facility, creates the relocation policy for the employees, and additionally serves as administrators of the employee relocation and severance programs. Jan has written 39 books exploring various phases of relocation, including The Group Move, Complete Guide To Family Relocation, and an international series covering how to live, work and do business in specific host countries. Jan will be conducting a seminar at LiveXchange entitled “How to Get Your Company from Here to There,” focusing on the intricacies of retaining human capital during a relocation.
