GSDBA 2009 Business Resource Directory - (Page J) J SUIT UP AND SHOW UP Strategic Alliances Business Networking Groups (BNGs) work. The BNG program has been an exceptionally beneficial resource for GSDBA members since its inception in 1994. Currently, the seven active groups generate innumerable leads for BNG participants. With a team of colleagues ready and willing to make the connection for you, you grow your business at a more rapid rate than you could by yourself. Many a small business owner works in isolation. Owners rarely have time to build the kinds of relationships that not only result in more business, but also lend personal support and encouragement. BNGs provide the environment for building relationships and increasing customer base. Groups meet every week for an hour. The willingness of members to give this amount of time to the group reflects both member commitment to grow one another’s businesses and value received by members in increased business volume. Successful Collaborations Affinity for Business Groups support professional development. Each Affinity for Business Group is made up of GSDBA members in a given profession/industry. Current groups: Real Estate, Finance/Insurance, Marketing, Health Services and Hospitality. Groups meet once a month for an hour and a half. The focus is to support one another within a specific professional field and to help participants to develop professionally and bring their businesses to a new level. Here are some key elements which reflect the intent and direction of all the Affinity Groups: • Provide a forum for exchange of information and mutual support. • Engage members in professional development by capitalizing on the varied abilities within the group. • Bring in outside expertise/training when indicated. • Share information on recent developments in a particular field. • Create lasting strategic partnerships and business friendships. • Share individual successes and challenges. Community Involvement GSDBA Committees accomplish much of the work of the organization. Volunteers, the backbone of the organization, contribute their skills to the health and growth of GSDBA. Committee members are rewarded by building new relationships and expanding their referral base. And of course, the satisfaction of a job well done. Join one of GSDBA’s dedicated volunteer committees: Advocacy, Ambassadors, Business Development, Business Networking Groups, Corporate Outreach, Directory, Finance, Marketing, Membership, Pride and Programs. If you would like to bring your talents to one of these committees, please contact the GSDBA office at 619-296-4543.
