One of the most important attributes
of HOBAS pipes is its superior
strain corrosion performance (ASTM
D3681). The gravity sanitary sewer
specification for fiberglass pipe
specifies using sulfuric acid in the
Strain Corrosion test (D3681) to
determine the resistance to buried
deflection in a septic sewer (acidic
environment). Superior meaning,
above the standard, not just meeting
the minimum required value but,
exceeding this value by a measureable
amount. HOBAS's performance is
20-25% higher than the minimum
outlined in ASTM. Now that is better
performance! This equates to a longer,
safer, more reliable service life. Want
this performance on your job? Specify
a minimum 0.9% extrapolated 50year strain corrosion.

non-reinforced liner resin which
provides crack resistance and
abrasion resistance on the pipe
ID. If you want HOBAS abrasion
resistance, specify ASTM D3262
Cell Class of Type 1 (Glass-fiberreinforced thermosetting polyester
resin mortar), Liner 2 (nonreinforced thermosetting liner),
and Grade 3 (polyester resin and
sand surface layer, non-reinforced).
Specifying this cell class also
means that you will receive a resin
and sand OD which provides long
term UV protection; this is why
HOBAS pipes are routinely used for
above ground installations.
