Mariner - Spring 2008 - (Page 14) Maritimes Dear Mariner Society® Member, It seems like just yesterday that I followed a family tradition and came to work at Holland America Line. Unbelievably, it’s been 31 years. And while I will always respect and admire this company and all the fine people I’ve met on shore and at sea, it’s time for me to retire and let someone new have the privilege of getting to know our wonderful group of Mariners. I am confident that you will be in very good hands as my dear friend and long-time colleague Jo Ann Taylor assumes the Mariner Society mantle May 1. I couldn’t be more pleased with her selection, and I know you all will welcome her with open arms and with the same warmth you’ve always shown me. Jo Ann and I have worked closely together many times, starting back in 1981. Her extensive experience with Holland America Line includes being a two-time recipient of our Jo Ann Taylor prestigious Business Development Manager of the Year award. She exemplifies our commitment to deliver once-ina-lifetime experiences to our guests every time. I know you’ll quickly come to share my affection for her friendly Texas drawl and genuine delight in getting to know people. As a Mariner, you have so much to look forward to in the coming season. The ms Eurodam will be a wonderful addition when she joins the fleet this summer as our first Signature-class ship. And in 2009, there are many new and imaginative itineraries, including nine unique voyages to the Asia Pacific region and new 14-day Panama Canal cruises, just to Margaret and Jo Ann working together aboard the ms Rotterdam V in 1986. name a few. You won’t want to miss the unforgettable experiences that lie ahead. I am so grateful for the fond memories all of you have given me over the years. And I suspect there’ll be many more; don’t be too surprised if you discover me by your side on a future Holland America Line cruise. Until then, Bon Voyage! All the best, Margaret Binnendyk Director, Mariner Society Ed.: If you would like to send cards or notes to Margaret congratulating her on her retirement, feel free to address them to: Holland America Line’s Mariner Society, 300 Elliott Ave. West, Seattle, WA 98119. We will make sure that she receives them. 14 Holland America Line
